Meet Jack, our Owner Operator – Lead Carpenter
I started my carpentry apprenticeship in June of 1998. I completed all the requirements in the first three years and moved up to being a carpenter foreman shortly after that. I spent the next five years as a carpenter foreman before going on my own in May 2006 as JVS construction.
During my apprenticeship I spent a lot of time working on everything from schools, libraries, office buildings, warehouses, wastewater treatment plants and so on. In 2001 I spent six months in the beginning stages of the Lambeau field renovation. As a carpenter foreman, I led the crews and worked with the subcontractors to complete the projects in a timely manner with high standards of work.
During my time as a carpenter foreman, I started working for myself doing smaller side projects and a lot of concrete work for homeowners. I even went so far as small additions on homes along with slightly bigger projects.
Which lead to the beginning of JVS construction. I spent many days and nights planning and meeting with potential customers. The goal was to be a full-time general contractor.
The early days were a mix of hustle and dedication as we strived to establish ourselves as a trusted general contractor. Despite the initial challenges of maintaining a consistent schedule, our commitment to quality and customer service paid off. Slowly but steadily, we began to attract a loyal clientele base and positive feedback from satisfied customers. Building on this momentum, we transitioned from occasional side projects to a fully booked calendar year-round. It was a pivotal moment when we realized that our hard work and dedication were yielding tangible results.
I started the company with a half-ton Silverado loaded with tools and a small wood utility trailer.
With a solid foundation of knowledge, a strong work ethic, and , high quality results and ability to build relationships with my customers. My journey in construction has been a continuous learning experience. Over the years, my team and I have crafted numerous homes. We have built many houses, remodeled dozens of them, hundreds of windows and doors replaced 200 bathrooms and 70 kitchens.
At times we have subbed ourselves out to other contractors to help them with their work. That led me to driving sheet piling and wood piling for stone creek contractors. I also helped them build two bridges, a timber bridge up near Ashland for the US forestry department and a pedestrian Bridge in riverside park for Milwaukee county. After gaining more experience by working with other contractors I am was able to learn and teach myself to do these projects on my own. This exposure lead me to be the general contractor on our own projects.
In 2023 JVS construction was sold to Jeff Seidl and I. Which then became JVS Craftsmen Services. This partnership allowed us to offer insurance, retirement programs along with many other benefits for our employees. It has opened doors to opportunity and growth within the company, along with completing bigger projects and work with larger customers.
